About CanCHECKT1D
CanCHECKT1D is a national study exploring the acceptability and feasibility of offering Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) screening to infants and children across Canada. Too often, children with undiagnosed T1D arrive at the hospital in a life-threatening and costly state of crisis — outcomes that could be avoided if families and care teams were equipped to recognize the earliest signs of the disease. Newer treatments are also now available that can delay the onset of T1D in individuals identified as high-risk, making early detection more valuable than ever.
A Large-Scale Pan-Canadian Initiative
The study is a multi-year, multi-million-dollar initiative bringing together ten interlinked subprojects led by research teams from across the country. At its core is a pilot involving 10,000 children in Quebec, British Columbia, and Ontario. A project of this scale and complexity carries a significant coordination and communication burden, and reliable data infrastructure is essential to its success.
PREDIS’s Role
PREDIS is providing research data management services to CanCHECKT1D, including the design and development of data collection instruments, expert guidance on data architecture, and the implementation of audit and monitoring solutions that keep data collection transparent and accountable across every site and subproject.
