Too often, children with undiagnosed T1D arrive at the hospital in a life-threatening and costly state of crisis \u2014 outcomes that could be avoided if families and care teams were equipped to recognize the earliest signs of the disease. Newer treatments are also now available that can delay the onset of T1D in individuals identified as high-risk, making early detection more valuable than ever.<\/p>\n<h2>A Large-Scale Pan-Canadian Initiative<\/h2>\n<p>The study is a multi-year, multi-million-dollar initiative bringing together ten interlinked subprojects led by research teams from across the country. At its core is a pilot involving 10,000 children in Quebec, British Columbia, and Ontario.
